Introducing Kai Xin, Acupuncture Therapy Dog
5 Seasons Acupuncture would like to introduce the newest member of our health care team. Kai Xin is an Australian Shepherd miniature breed dog that is in training to receive her therapy certification. She already instinctively brings forward all the healing qualities of a full-grown, certified therapy dog. Her Chinese name is Kai Xin (pronounced Kai Shin), which translated means “Happiness” or more literally, “Open Heart.” Most of our clients call her Kai for short.
Australian Shepherds are very intelligent, compassionate, nurturing dogs, which make them a natural choice for therapy dogs. Kai Xin was the runt of her litter, and came out with a very sensitive and soft spirit. She loves people and is very gentle and intuitive to those around her. She already spends time in the office “working,” and when fully trained, will work full time. Kai Xin will work with those under my Hospice care and their families, those seeking treatment for PTSD, trauma and mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, as well as patients who may have phobias surrounding needles. She will, of course, also work with the pediatric population of 5 Seasons!
